Our PDFs are all sized for US Letter (8.5×11 in), include the answer key on the back, and are free to download with no signup.

Why a printed puzzle beats an app

Puzzle apps are designed to keep you tapping; printed puzzles are designed to be solved. That is the entire difference, and it is the entire point. When you open a sudoku app you also open a notification surface, a recommendation algorithm, and three or four other apps you didn't mean to check. A page from your analog bag does one thing well and then ends. The clear stopping point — "I finished this puzzle" — is exactly the satisfaction that an infinite feed can never give you.

There's also a focus benefit. Holding a pencil in your hand and tracking numbers in a 9×9 grid uses a different part of your brain than thumb-scrolling does. Most people who switch from puzzle apps to paper say the same thing: the paper version actually relaxes them, and the app version never did.

How to use them well

A few practical things that make the difference between "I downloaded a sudoku once" and "I actually solve puzzles now":

• Print more than you think you'll use. Five pages in a folder beats one page you have to print every time. The friction is the enemy.
• Pencil, not pen. Even easy puzzles get an erase or two. Pens are for confident liars.
• Keep them somewhere your hand already goes. By the couch, in the work bag, in the glove compartment. If you have to walk to find the puzzle, you'll grab your phone instead.
• Don't time yourself. The point is to slow down. Timing turns a relaxing puzzle into a productivity task, which is the opposite of what we're going for.
• Share with one other person. Solving alongside a kid, a partner, or a parent makes a 15-minute puzzle feel like a small ritual instead of a chore.

Are these really free? Yes — every PDF is free to download, print, and use for personal, family, or classroom purposes. No signup, no email, no paywall. We just ask you not resell them.

Will they print well on A4 paper? Yes. The PDFs are sized for US Letter, but every modern printer can scale to A4 — use the "fit to page" option in your print dialog. The puzzle ends up about 97% of the original size on A4, which is still plenty large.

Where are the answers? On page 2 of every PDF. If you download the bundle, all puzzles come first, then all solutions in the same order.
